Personal testimony · July 12, 1992
In July 1992, members of the paramilitary unit "Simini četnici" from Serbia raided the Roma village of Skočić near Zvornik, where 27 Roma civilians, including children, were killed. Eight-year-old Zijo Ribić was the only member of his family to get out alive from the pit into which the bodies of the murdered were thrown. As an adult he testified in Belgrade, where the accused were finally acquitted of the killings, and three were convicted only of rape and inhumane treatment.
