Sarajevsko-romanijski korpus VRS (SRK) učestvovao je u opsadi Sarajeva. Prema prvostepenoj presudi ICTY-a u predmetu Dragomir Milošević, granat kalibra 120 mm koji je 28. augusta 1995. pao ispred Gradske tržnice Markale ispaljen je sa položaja SRK-a.

On Monday, 28 August 1995, at about 11 a.m., five mortar shells fell near the Markale market in Sarajevo. One 120 mm shell landed in front of the main entrance to the City Market in Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street, killing 43 people and wounding dozens. Two days later NATO launched the air operation Deliberate Force against VRS targets. Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić were later convicted by final judgment and sentenced to life imprisonment, among other things for terrorising the civilian population of Sarajevo.
